2009:
6thgradescience: hi there. I was rewatching Looking for Lakewood, and decided to start this forum in the hopes that others will find this as interesting as I do, and would be willing to help me gather information on the topic. If you’ve watched the news at all in the last 30 years, or at the very least, studied geography, I’m sure you have heard of Wildwood National Park. It’s located on the border of Hollow Point City in Illinois. It’s the biggest forest in the world, you can’t miss it. But specifically, I’m interested in the mystery of it. 80% of it is uncharted territory, and because of this, there have been a shocking amount of missing persons cases in relation to people getting lost in the forest (most notably, Marshall Lakewood of the band Kentucky Birds). No one has ever been found. Not even a body.
Unfortunately all the information that is out there about these disappearances seems to have been diluted to word of mouth. Sure, there were news reports on the matter, but for lesser known cases those articles were probably kept local (to Hollow Point City). And I know for a fact that the residents of HPC don’t like talking about it, otherwise there would already be a comprehensive list of everyone who’s ever gone missing there.
So I’m starting a wiki page, and will keep updating it as I obtain more information on every person who ever went missing in Wildwood. Feel free to contribute (with a credible source) if you have any info.
I know there is much more, but here is what I have so far:
1982
Marshall Lakewood
Steven McCain
Sarah Pope
Nicholas Winstead
Gregory Winstead
1992
[THREE MISSING LAKEWOOD FANS]
1996
Lloyd Winters
Davey Bowers

6thgradescience: just got word that someone else went missing in Wildwood last week. Anyone got any info?
kingcondor: I have the HPNN broadcast. I guess this was a bigger deal as it was the first missing person in a while.
“Olivia Campbell, 22, was reported missing by her family after wandering off during a camping trip. The family was not camping on zoned camping grounds, causing hesitation among rangers and police officers. After the cascading incident in 1982 that caused four people to go missing in the wake of the case of Marshall Lakewood, police decided that if anyone goes missing far off a hiking trail or zoned campground, they are not responsible for searching for them to avoid losing more people. Olivia is no exception to this - searches were conducted on and around nearby hiking trails but were called off after only a day.
The family continued searching for her against the authorities of the police.”
I wish it wasn’t so vague. We could maybe reach out to the family?
6thgradescience: whoa. this is the most detail we’ve gotten since Lakewood. not enough to be worth making a whole page, though.
talesretold: hey. that’s my sister. unfortunately there’s not much more to it than this - we fell asleep next to each other and when i woke up, she was gone. cops did jack shit. we looked for her for a week and a half. i don’t know what else to do.
kingcondor: Wait. For real?
6thgradescience: gonna need to see some proof.
talesretold: [grainy webcam pic of him holding up a printed image of him and Olivia]
6thgradescience: sorry. you understand why I had to ask. no one’s documenting this stuff but us, so we need to keep it accurate.
talesretold: yeah, i get it. by the way, tomorrow i was gonna go to the library to see if they have any old newspapers about those other disappearances. i think there were way more than you have listed.
6thgradescience: that would actually be super helpful. we know of a few others but couldn’t confirm the sources.

kingcondor: Police stated that a canoe was missing, right? Why skirt over that? This is a MISSING KID.
Edit: I called the cops and also the Wildwood rangers and both said the investigation was closed and therefore they couldn’t do anything. This is bullshit. The longer they wait, the more likely it is that he’s gone forever. Fuck it, I’m not far from there. I’ll go find him myself.
wildfire737: You’re insane, dude. Don’t go alone.
6thgradescience: if you give me like two days I can book a flight. I’ll go with you.
kingcondor: We really can’t wait any longer. He’s been out there 6 days now.
wildfire737: There’s no coming back from there, man. Look at your own research.
kingcondor: I have to try.

kingcondor: I know you think this is foolish of me, but you already know how I feel about the local area authorities around Wildwood. They’re not going to look for this kid. I know they’re scared, but so is the kid. They don’t care about him, or the safety of others. If they did, they would shut down the camp zones. They would put trackers on these children, idk. I’m gonna do what they won’t, even though I am scared, too. So if you don’t hear from me again, it’s because Wildwood took me.
