Lead singer of the band Kentucky Birds.
Members of Kentucky Birds are all in agreement that it is highly likely Marshall paid a visit to Wildwood Forest at some point during his visit, whether that’s where he went missing or not.
Bassist Layla Browning stated in the documentary that she wished the police searches had been conducted with more efficiency and common sense, but she understands why the searches were suspended so soon. Pouring all their resources into combing the forest when nobody is even sure that he was there was not a smart move. But once all other avenues had been thoroughly investigated, it was too late to revisit the forest as too much time had passed.
The first notable fan disappearance after Lakewood's was Nicholas Winstead in October of 1982, who went missing after venturing into Wildwood in order to either find him or write an article on his disappearance.
In August of 1992, almost exactly 10 years later, obsessive fans Leanne Starling, Richard Moore, Cherry Moss went out into Wildwood to “follow in his footsteps”, even though it was unknown whether Lakewood ever set foot in Wildwood forest. The three never returned home. Many believed they went out there to die, in order to honour and “be with” their favourite singer.
